Part: 5 Score with the Super Skills > Make the Most of Memberships

Chapter 16. Make the Most of Memberships

Joining organizations is the best way to come in contact with a multitude of people and build your personal and professional network. Whatever your profession or interest, you can find a group of likeminded people. In fact, for any given job type, industry, or business, you'll have many possible groups to choose from.

Jon is an architect in Easton, Maryland. He specializes in designing hospitals and has a personal and professional interest in landscaping. He could join the American Institute of Architects, the chamber of commerce, the American Institute of Landscape Architects, the local Rotary Club, the American Association of Hospital Administrators, the Chesapeake Healthcare Association. Then there's the group that's restoring plant life along the Chesapeake Bay. Or how about the Lion's Club? Or he could join the alumni group for his alma mater, Boston University. Jon's list of possibilities is endless. Yours probably is too.
