Pinpoint Your Arenas

Your Arenas are the groups you belong to, the circles you are known in. To maximize your opportunities for building your network, we recommend that you be involved in about six different Arenas.

Start with the most obvious (but most often overlooked) Arenas: your family. In some families, providing business and career help is taken for granted; in others, it's taboo to talk about money or work. But does Uncle Joe really know what you do? What kind of clients you're looking for? The next move you'd like to make in your career? Probably not. Tell him, and everyone else in your family tree, about your goals and capabilities. Ask them to keep an eye out for opportunities for you.
