Background

This guidebook integrates and articulates key principles taught in CCL’s leadership development programs. CCL’s approach to leadership development has always emphasized self-awareness and learning, critical components to building resiliency.

That emphasis is based at least partly on long-standing research CCL has conducted in the key events of executives’ lives and the lessons they have learned from those experiences. CCL’s examination of this area focused on three broad themes: job assignments, hardships, and formal training. In each of those areas executives made developmental strides by being resilient to the challenges provided by their experiences.
