Chapter 6. Uncover Future Phobia > Imagine Your Future

Imagine Your Future

To start your memory working forward, list important future events. This list and the past-events list will provide a lot to think about when making decisions.

List the five most important life events in your future. Again, take no more than two minutes to make your list. Go with what is on the top of your mind.

Think about your answers and why you answered them that way. Most of us have had more practice remembering than imagining. But remembering has as many errors and distortions as imagining. What you “know” about your past may be no more accurate than what you imagine about your future. These two lists, or expanded ones, can be useful in gaining self-understanding and tapping into your creative, futures thinking skills.
