Info-mania—the idolizing of information—comes from our addiction to the need to know and a feeling of power from knowing. Information anxiety can result from either too much or too little information. Information Anxiety author Richard Saul Wurman says, “Information anxiety is produced by the ever-widening gap between what we understand and what we think we should understand. It happens when information doesn’t tell us what we want or need to know.” And we keep collecting more.
