Chapter 16. Power-Political Lens

The power-political lens looks at leadership to see if its influence is adequately compelling to enlist constructive support for implementation. Focus: Will others be motivated to deliver what is needed?


The dictionary definition of political in this context is “the process by which power and influence are exerted.” The challenge this lens brings into focus is: Can you muster the influence needed to bring a sound idea to fruition? Without an adequate power base, good ideas wither. So even if a proposal is technically sound, cost-effective, ethical, and environmentally responsible, it must also have political support.
