Some people have a few “friends” who are chronically negative and being around these “friends” pulls them down. It may sound harsh, but it’s usually wise to put people like that at some distance–even if it means that you are the one who must give up an activity or make an adjustment to create the space.

And it’s never easy, but in some cases, it’s even necessary to break off a negative personal relationship to protect your attitude. If you find yourself in this situation, make the break directly, firmly, and without guilt. When the tension or sadness of the break-up moment passes, you’ll notice an improvement in your attitude.
