Chapter 9. Play Your Winners > Think More about Your Winners

Think More about Your Winners

The more you concentrate on good news and the things you do well in life, the less time you’ll have to think about the negative stuff. And, sometimes when negative factors and messages receive less attention, some of them resolve themselves–suggesting, perhaps, that they weren’t that real or significant in the first place. For some people, most of the things they worry about never happen.

Nan’s Daily Journal

Nan, a receptionist in the home office, keeps a diary about important events in her life. She makes it a point to pick out positive factors and messages when making entries in her diary. As she falls asleep at night, she thinks about new entries she’d like to make the next morning. Nan claims this technique helps her fall asleep faster, and gives her a better start on the next day. During a typical day, Nan talks to more than 200 people. Her positive attitude ripples throughout the office, to every branch and field rep, and it’s also obvious to the company’s suppliers and customers.
