Chapter 30. Comments on the Cases > Ramon Wants to Move Up

Case 4:. Ramon Wants to Move Up

Ramon needs to be a little less intense on the job. He’s not communicating in an open, relaxed manner with his staff or with other supervisors. In his effort to be accepted by others, he may be overcompensating on the technical side of his job and neglecting to build strong, open relationships. Ramon may have a positive attitude “somewhere inside,” but unless he brings it out in the open, others will continue to see his attitude as negative. If Ramon wants to move up, he’ll need to open up, especially when problems are discussed at staff meetings. He should make a copy of page 74, Projecting Your Positive Attitude, and tape it to his bathroom mirror.
