Chapter 24. Be a Problem-Solver > Slow Down, Gain a Better Perspective

Step 1:. Slow Down, Gain a Better Perspective

Whenever a heavy problem hits, it’s a good idea to back away some–to gain the best possible focus. This is sometimes difficult to do, and people use various techniques: walk around the block, “sleep on the problem,” take a mini-vacation, seek the advice of another person. Such actions can produce a more objective understanding of the situation: it’s easier to sort out the real issues and it’s easier to generate a creative list of possible solutions. And, occasionally the size of a problem will seem to decrease when you slow down, take a break, and view it again.
