Definition: Knowing certain facts but avoiding them because they do not support your argument.

Example: All the major economic indicators suggest a slowdown in the general economy. Despite this, Henry says, “The lessening in demand for our product seems most likely related to the lack of effective marketing from the marketing department. Hence, the cutback of 20% of the staff there.”
