Picturing an Argument

In critical thinking terminology, an argument is an attempt to support a disputed conclusion through evidence.

Think about the connections between these terms by imagining an argument as a table. The tabletop is the position taken, the conclusion. The pieces of evidence are the legs supporting the tabletop. Someone else might not agree that it is the correct tabletop. The purpose of the argument is to give supportive evidence for using that particular tabletop.
