Self-Awareness Skill Builder 2: Hear Yourself Think

How do you react when you are in a crisis? In a crisis situation, it is especially difficult to hear from the “advisor of logic.” Most people respond to “gut feelings” which are a combination of advice from the advisors of instinct and emotions. Without the balance of all three, there is danger of making a less-effective decision.

In the example of the masked gunman, Susan could have mentally rehearsed what she would do in the event she would be held up in a variety of situations. Her logical brain might have prepared her to protect herself first and her property second.
