When stress continues for a long period of time, the body burns out physically, mentally, and emotionally. Chronic stress interferes with concentration and the logical brain. It becomes increasingly more difficult to deal with angry associates, frustrated clients, or a demanding supervisor. When you are physically and emotionally healthy, you can deal with a threat or a crisis.

Research indicates that stress contributes to 80% of major illness, is responsible for 75% to 90% of doctor’s visits and costs businesses as much as $300 billion a year. Repeated stress results in a weaker immune system. People with weaker immune systems are unable to heal and fight off diseases as well as those with stronger immune systems. The more stressors you have in your life at one time, the greater the chance that you will become ill.
