Chapter 7. Making the Most of Memory > Your Powerful Visual Memory

Your Powerful Visual Memory

Visual memory is usually more powerful than your memory for words, numbers, or sounds. Unfortunately, much of what you are expected to memorize isn’t visual. Facts, numbers, and names do not provide easy-to-remember images like faces, scenery, and pictures. When it is not possible to turn the information into real pictures, creating mental images can do the same thing. Practice making “funny mental pictures” to help you remember new information. The more outlandish the image you create, the easier it will be to remember.
