Chapter 18. Where You Start Your Journey... > More Frequent and Open Communication...

More Frequent and Open Communications

People like to be heard. It is a great compliment to have someone interested in what you have to say. Open communication is more than everyone having the chance to talk. It is being heard. It is feeling that the other person understands what you say. You can’t overcommunicate with your group members. If there are major differences of opinion, probably not all information is on the table. Take responsibility for your communication. It is up to you to make sure that people get your message. Check for understanding frequently and clear up misunderstandings quickly. The sharing of information is a gift that should be acknowledged and valued by everyone in the group. As commitment and trust are established, communication becomes easier. You look forward to discussing options and working out issues together.
