Missing Commitments

When you or other members of the group miss commitments made to the group, it may be simply a problem of priorities or it may have a more complex source. This problem is often overlooked in the consensus process. It is a warning sign for future problems.

Making your commitments is key for your group to reach consensus. If you don’t do what you what you say you will do, how can you expect people to trust you? How will your group get anything done? You can judge how your group is doing by focusing on interim commitments. If people don’t meet the small commitments, it is likely the investment is missing for the overall goal. Address this issue as soon as you become aware of it. Asking questions can shed a lot of light on the problem.
