Lack of Participation

Quiet members often need to develop trust with the group before they feel comfortable sharing ideas and opinions. A small dose of criticism may appear large to a person who fears failure or ridicule. Encourage these members and respond positively to their efforts. Asking open-ended questions helps to initiate conversation.

Example: “We have heard from nearly everyone on this issue. Jo, you have a lot of experience with this, what do you think?”
