Withholding Information

People withhold information from their group discussions when they perceive a positive outcome for doing so. Is recognition given for personal achievement that puts this group member in competition with the others? Was information previously shared and the group responded negatively?

When people express their opinions, they become accountable for them. Expressing yourself helps to eliminate confusion and clarify expectations. If anyone seems to hold back information, question the behavior to try to understand its cause.
