  • Approach the problem with the attitude that you want to find a solution that meets as many people’s needs as possible.

  • Acknowledge the other person’s concerns whether it is reality or a perception.

  • Ask for specific situations that are a problem to the other person.

  • Clearly state your side of the situation and the impact it has on you.

  • Look for options to either address the specifics or find some middleground where each side gets its needs met.
