Chapter 16. Electronic Helpers

Paula likes paper. “Reminders are everywhere. What did I ever do without yellow stickies? They are stuck to my desk, the phone, and truly provide a creative frame around my PC monitor. The color scheme for priority (pink = hot, blue=medium, and yellow=someday) went awry when I ran out of pink. I’ve lost track of what needs to be done. I know it’s somewhere. Paper is in. It’s portable…if I can only remember where I put that reminder.”

Ethel is into electronic toys. “I have the latest and greatest pocket organizer and PC. I upload and download appointments and details of the day from one to the other. Periodically I go the wrong direction and wipe out important reminders. When everything is in order, I can find something on the spot. To-do lists can be scanned in a moment’s notice. Mailing lists for the latest marketing promotion can be pulled in a flash. Access to on-line services gives me the latest scoop on the company I’ll be visiting tomorrow.”
