Part II: Juggling Time > Jiving With the Rest of the World

Chapter 9. Jiving With the Rest of the World

Activities involving others can’t be planned in a vacuum. Deciding to call clients at your peak time of midnight may not meet with similar enthusiasm. Getting a friend to review your marketing presentation at 6:00 A.M. when you’re in top form may test the relationship. Waiting to take Rover for a walk until 11:00 A.M. means wasted time cleaning up his dog mess. Using low-energy time to play with your kids works well except if that time overlaps with their school schedule. Spending quiet time with your spouse late in the evening may not jive if he or she hits the sack early to rise early.

Coordinating schedules with family members, business associates and friends can often feel like ships passing in the night. Working from home, however, does provide leeway in defining when you do what.
