Set Some Ground Rules

Are you repeatedly challenged to deal with the same person about the same situation? How about the same situation with many different people? As an alternative to reacting repeatedly to the same problem interruption, openly address the situation upfront.

Problems often stem from different assumptions about what is OK and what is not. If the rules of the game have changed with your friends and family, openly discuss the impact with those who are involved. Don’t assume others will magically make the adjustment you want or expect.
