Chapter 24. Delegation Skills Overview

Many technical supervisors—and even senior technical managers—confess to the frustration of delegation. Not only is it difficult to give work to others that you may enjoy doing yourself, but it is a final test of “letting go.”

In reality, you are giving work to another person to do. Symbolically, you are recognizing that by delegating you are relinquishing your role as a technical expert. Here is the irony. The more effective you are at technical supervision, the further away you move from the role of technical expert.
