4. Have I Identified My Supervisory Strengths and Weaknesses?

Supervisory development is a manageable and accessible process. To determine the gaps where you need further training and development, you need to evaluate both your proficiency in (how well you can do something) and the relevance of (how important a skill is to your job) each of the following nine supervisory functions.

Exercise: Assign two ratings for each of the following supervisory functions. On a scale of 1–5, 5 is the highest and 1 is the lowest. Your developmental needs are greatest where you rank high in relevance and low in proficiency.
