Chapter 15. Using the Internet > Downloading and Uploading Files

Downloading and Uploading Files

When you are viewing Web pages with your Web browser, your browser is downloading files to your computer. These files are stored temporarily in your computer's memory as you view them. As just described, you can chose to save a Web page to your hard drive in order to access it when you are offline.

Downloading involves the transmission of a file from the Internet to your computer. Sometimes you will find links to files on Web pages that are available for downloading. These files may be data files, new programs, drivers for particular devices, graphics, music, and so forth.
