Capitalization

Proper nouns that denote the names of specific persons or places are capitalized, though names that are common to a group are not. Following are examples of words that are capitalized:

Acts of Congress

  • Civil Rights Act

  • Taft-Hartley Act

  • Child Labor Amendment

  • Eighteenth Amendment
