Modems

There are two general types of modems: internal and external (Figures 13-2 and 13-3). External modems connect to your computer through one cable and to a telephone line through another cable. An internal modem is inserted inside the computer into an expansion slot. It does not require a cable to connect it to the computer, but you still must connect it to the telephone line.
