Part III: E-mail policies > Copyright laws, viruses, and liability

Chapter 10. Copyright laws, viruses, and liability

Explanation

Although e-mail is an effective way of communicating, you have to be careful while reading or sending e-mail messages. You should avoid violating copyright laws. You should also be cautious while attaching or downloading files because they might contain viruses that can cause data loss and severely damage a company’s computer system. Employers should inform their employees about the company policies regarding e-mail. Both the employer as well as the employee can be held responsible for violating copyright laws and writing unsuitable mail.
