Part IV: E-mail features and security > Features of an e-mail program

Chapter 12. Features of an e-mail program

Explanation

There are many important features of an e-mail program. The ability to attach files to messages is one of them. Attachments are beneficial because they help e-mail users to include information that is too long to be included in the body of their messages. Another important feature of an e-mail program is the ability to label the messages. This feature helps e-mail users prioritize when to read their messages. Most e-mail programs also permit you to create a signature file. Signatures appear below the messages. Other features of e-mail programs include folders where you can save messages, and filters, which directly place the messages into a chosen folder. E-mail users can also use an address book to store addresses and a tracking system to find out when the messages are read or delivered. Another e-mail program feature allows users to download e-mail messages or attachments into Microsoft Word or Microsoft Excel for printing.
