E-mail Etiquette

Unit 1

In this unit, you learned the differences between writing online versus on paper. You also learned about the advantages and disadvantages of communicating by e-mail. You learned that the three basic concepts of interpersonal and group communication that affect the cultural significance of e-mail are power, persona, and group communication. Next, you learned how to use e-mail. Then, you learned the factors that determine when to use e-mail. You also learned when to avoid using e-mail. Finally, you learned to use the MAIL acronym effectively to improve your e-mail style.

Unit 2

In this unit, you learned about the guidelines to be followed to avoid improper mail. You learned that complying with your company’s e-policy is important. You learned the steps that management can take to help employees avoid writing e-mail that might jeopardize the organization. You learned how to avoid copyright infringement. You also learned to be cautious while opening an attachment and downloading files because attachments might contain viruses. You learned about e-mail liability. Finally, you learned that employers should make employees aware of organizational e-mail policies.
