Determining Your Partial Deductions

If you meet the aforementioned conditions, you will be able to claim your home office as a deduction. Now you will be able to claim deductions that are directly related to running any business, but you can list indirect expenses than can apply to your home. The IRS permits you to partially claim the following indirect expenses.

  • Community or condominium association fees

  • Homeowners insurance

  • Housekeeping

  • General repairs (i.e., air conditioning)

  • Mortgage interest

  • Real estate taxes

  • Rent

  • Security system

  • Trash collection

  • Utilities
