Chapter 2. Creating a Space for Your 60-... > Honey, Stop Talking to Me

Honey, Stop Talking to Me

Don't have children? Spouses and significant others can be just as guilty of impinging on your time. If your spouse has the day off (or, in this day and age, if you BOTH work from home), he or she may love to wander into your work area to chat—about your mother-in-law, about the new restaurant opening up down the street, or about the fact that the refrigerator is woefully empty. But when we're both at home, even if she's in the spare bedroom on her laptop, she gets up frequently to just make conversation with me.” Having different work styles is again about communication and coming to some sort of middle ground. How did this couple solve their problem? They designated a “lunch hour” to take together and get all their talking out then.
