Part II: Techniques Unlimited > Illustrated Glossary

Illustrated Glossary

Photographic jargon isn’t really a foreign language! However, there are a lot of words and terms that have special meanings in the world of picture taking and image editing. This glossary is your English/photospeak “dictionary,” defining the tough words in this book, as well as a few dozen other words and phrases you’ll encounter when taking and manipulating photos. I’m including illustrations to help clarify some concepts. You’ll also find illustrations throughout the book which illustrate other photography and imaging ideas. You can read through this glossary for fun, to build up a mighty imaging vocabulary to impress your boss, or to stump that know-it-all colleague.
