Architectural photography comes in two varieties: the sophisticated professional kind that’s a highly specialized pursuit with complex rules and guidelines, and the informal type you can engage in just for fun. If you want to shoot architectural photographs professionally, whether it’s for architectural firms, city planners, housing developers, or other colleagues, you don’t need this chapter. You need a few months of study and thousands of hours of practice with sophisticated view cameras equipped with a pricey digital camera back. (Or, there’s always film!) However, if you want to photograph structures as a creative outlet or for fun, you do need this chapter.
