Part 5. Taking Digital Photos—Indoors

Part 5. Taking Digital Photos—Indoors

Many digital cameras are used for the first time for indoor shooting. They're given as gifts or brought along to record a special event. Although you can get acceptable results by just aiming the camera and pushing the shutter release, your indoor photos can have just as much creativity in lighting and subject matter as outdoor photos. In this part, you learn how to control your camera when using the built-in flash as well as existing room light. You also learn the benefits of bringing along additional lighting for both portraits and for shots of jewelry and collectables. By selecting the right light source and the right white balance, your interior photos can be both a record of a special event or object and capture the mood of the moment.
