Part 11. Printing Your Digital Photos > Photo Printing Options

Photo Printing Options

Configuring the Printer for Glossy Photo Paper

Click Start, (All) Programs, Printers and Faxes.

Right-click your printer and click Properties.

Click the Printing Preferences button.

Click the Paper/Quality tab.

INTRODUCTION

If you use a printer connected to your computer to print your photos, you need to configure it correctly to get high-quality photo prints. This task shows you how to set the correct print options in Windows XP for glossy photo paper with the standard Windows XP printer driver.

TIP

Different Printers, Different Drivers

Depending upon the printer, printer driver, and version of Windows you use, your printer driver screens might look much different from the ones shown here. A vendor-supplied driver usually offers more options and a different interface.

TIP

Try the Control Panel

If you don't have the Printers and Faxes (Printers in older versions of Windows) icon on the Start button, click the Control Panel icon to select the Printers and Faxes icon.

Click the Media pull-down menu and select Photo Quality Glossy Film.

Click Best under Quality Settings.

Select Color if necessary.

Click Apply, then OK twice to close the preferences and main printer dialog.
