Common Digital Camera Components

Charging Your Battery Pack

Some Nikon cameras use this Li-Ion battery pack.

Many digital cameras use two or more NiMH rechargeable AA batteries.

Some Kodak digital cameras can use this NiMH battery pack in place of two AA batteries.

INTRODUCTION

Although some digital cameras can be operated with off-the-shelf alkaline AA-size batteries, many are designed to use proprietary rechargeable battery packs. Rechargeable batteries must be charged before they can be used.

TIP

Battery Technologies

The Kodak NiMH battery pack is equivalent to two AA-size NiMH batteries, and either can be used in Kodak EasyShare cameras in place of AA alkalines. However, the Nikon battery pack uses Li-Ion technology and has a proprietary form factor and voltage.

To charge a proprietary battery pack or batteries outside of the camera, plug the charger into an AC outlet.

Slide or snap the battery pack into the charger to start the charging process.

Remove the battery when fully charged. This might be indicated by a signal light or might require you to wait a specified amount of time.
