Get the Balance Right

For those of us not old enough to remember, photographs used to be only black and white. Not out of preference, mind you—pictures were black and white because that was the best the technology could muster.

Accurate color rendition has been the goal of photography ever since, and even though nearly a hundred years of history passed between the first photographic image and the first color image, capturing colors on film (and then later digitally) was always the aim. Heck, even popular culture recognized the photographer's craving for colors that looked like those in the real world, immortalized in Paul Simon's song “Kodachrome.”
