Reading Is Fundamental

In Chapter 5 we talked about the process of transferring images from camera to computer, and about the usefulness of having an external card reader.

Here's a refresher for you in case you've forgotten: Every camera comes with a cable that allows you to transfer images to your computer. That cable usually transfers data very slowly (using a standard called USB 1.1). As long as your camera is plugged in and turned on, it's using battery power. So, using the cable that comes with your camera forces you to sit around and wait while images transfer, and it kills your battery.
