Fast-action modes

Capturing fast action has always been a problem for digital cameras. Early digital models suffered from intolerably slow shutter lag, write times, and refresh rates. Those digital cameras seemed better suited for group shots and portraits than shooting any type of action. Today's digital cameras have overcome most of these problems and have added new features that make capturing the moment easier. One of these features is burst mode, where your camera takes several shots rapidly to record a series of images, as shown in Figure A. By using burst mode effectively, you can not only capture sequential shots, but you can also take several pictures of a scene and increase your chances of getting the perfect shot.

A. You can capture fast-moving action using the burst mode on your digital camera.
