Chapter 10. Image Preparation > Planning your prints to save photo paper

Planning your prints to save photo paper

Applications: Adobe Photoshop 7/CS, Adobe Photoshop Elements 2

One of the drawbacks of digital imaging is the high cost of printing. While photo inkjet printer prices have fallen and quality has greatly increased, the price of consumables, such as ink and photo paper, remains high. It's easier than ever to download and print your images, sometimes even without using a computer. You can pop your memory card in a standalone printer, select your image, and print away. However, the ease of printing often leads to wasteful habits. Have you ever printed out a 4-x-5-inch image on an 8.5-x-11-inch piece of paper? There's a lot of space left on that page for other prints. We'll show you how to get the most from each page of photo paper.
