Digital vs. film

In the past, we would have had to tell you that film is far superior to anything digital cameras can muster. However, over the last two or three years, we've seen extreme advances in the quality and sheer volume of information a digital camera can capture. Indeed, today it's possible to take a digital photo that rivals a photo on film. And in the near future, we're sure you'll see parity between the two. But to understand how these two mediums relate, let's take a look at the difference in technologies.

How traditional film images are captured

We've all taken pictures using a regular film camera. However, you might not have thought about how the image is recorded. It's just sort of a natural thing. But to understand how digital photography works, it's good to know how an image is captured on film as well as how it's captured digitally.
