Chapter 3. Camera Care > Caring for your digital camera

Caring for your digital camera

Capturing a rainbow during a summer drizzle or a flowering cactus during a desert windstorm can be risky business when it comes to pulling out your digital camera to capture the shot. Digital cameras are much more expensive and sensitive than most traditional 35 mm cameras; therefore, you want to take steps to make them last. However, protecting your camera from the elements doesn't mean you have to miss incredible shots because of bad weather. It just means you need to take special precautions when doing so to ensure that your camera's 5,000th picture is as clear as the first!

Storing, traveling, and caring for your camera

When your digital camera is taking a break, it's important to store it correctly. Likewise, when you're on the go, you'll want to make sure it's well prepared for travel.
