Lens converters

Just understanding the basics isn't enough if you really want to take full advantage of your digital camera. To really get the most out of the camera, and get great pictures along the way, you may want to invest in a few accessories that will make your camera complete.

Most digital cameras come with a reasonable zoom range—usually between 2x and 4x. But your creative spirit might yearn for something more—or something different. When that's the case, you may look at adding a lens converter to your camera. These attachments allow you to change the focal length of your built-in lens. To attach the converter, shown in Figure A, all you do is screw it on to the end of the existing lens (which may require a step-down ring). There are usually four different focal lengths available in most converter sets: fish-eye or ultra-wide angle, wide angle, telephoto, and macro. Attached, the converters can drastically change the composition of a picture.
