Your Camera Bag

Let's start by taking a little time to look at that vital item that all photographers need—a bag to carry their gear in. Camera bags come in all sizes, from the small pouches designed to fit a compact camera and an extra battery and a memory card, to large photo backpacks for carrying a serious collection of photo gear well off the beaten path. The bag you choose should be large enough to carry the gear you have now, with a little extra room to accommodate any new equipment that you think you might be getting soon.

If you have more than one camera, or your gear requirements vary for different assignments, you'll likely end up with more than one bag. This usually starts as you outgrow your first bag but decide to keep it for those times when you want to travel light. A smaller bag certainly makes sense for those occasions when you can leave a larger bag in the trunk of the car and head out for an excursion without having to lug all of your equipment.
