Storage card can't be read

Storage card can't be read

This is a common problem in cameras that use SmartMedia cards. Because the contacts on SmartMedia cards are exposed, they can get fingerprints or other shmutz on them that will prevent the camera from reading the card. Gently rub the contacts with a rubber pencil eraser. This will usually get the card up and running.

Sometimes a storage card gets corrupted and needs to be reformatted. Check your camera's instructions for formatting cards. Keep in mind that reformatting a card wipes out any stored pictures.
