Setting Up a Shot

When you're ready to take a picture, check first that the obvious things are correct. Make sure that the camera is on and the lens cap is off. Before you push the button, also check that your finger or camera strap is not in front of the lens.

This is also a good time to check the camera settings like flash and file type (which we'll cover in detail in Chapter 4).
