Fixing a Torn Photo

Torn photos are not hard to fix, if you know a few tricks. The photo shown in Figure 10.9 was in decent shape after 60 years, except for some fading around the edges where it was placed in a frame, and a minor tear that turned into a major tear when we removed it from its backing in the frame. I carefully fit the pieces together and scanned them as a whole, with hopes of repairing the tear. Fortunately, the tear doesn’t cross any areas of the face, so it is relatively simple to mend.
