Noise Reduction

After you’ve corrected the brightness, contrast, color, and saturation of your photo, you may need to reduce noise. There are several noise reduction filters, but probably the best choice for most photo work is Edge Preserving Smooth.

There are a few other commands available under Adjust > Add/Remove Noise that you might want to try in specialized situations. For single-pixel specks that are mostly black and white, try Despeckle. For larger black-and-white specks, try Salt and Pepper. And for removing the regular pattern that often appears when a printed image is scanned, try Moiré Pattern Removal.
